# Somalia ## Secure, inclusive and transparent digital IDs In September 2023, Somalia re-launched its initiative to provide digital identity to 15 million citizens, to protect civil liberties and enable business growth. With one of the most affordable mobile internet rates in Africa, Somalia connects millions of diaspora members, facilitating over $1.2 billion in remittances annually.
